Week 20- Niche Brands of The Week + Items Of The Week
H.E.S- Brand Of The Week
A small UK brand that produces clothes in small batches with lots of care going into them that are inspired by the ‘golden age of leisure’. Exactly the sort of brand I aim to support with this newsletter! They’ve just released a new batch of clothes that i’m a really big fan of, and its priced pretty reasonably with pieces ranging between £100-250. Considering everything is produced in the UK and made in small batches this is great pricing.
Pictured below is the One Piece Toweling shirt, made from 100% cotton and heavily inspired by Arnold Newman’s portrait of Picasso.
Pictured below is the portrait of Picasso that was used as inspiration. Its awesome to see brands getting unique inspiration like this to inspire them.
The shapers short pictured below is inspired by surfboard shapers. I‘m a big fan of the white laces which look great with the colours they’ve chosen.
Pictured below are the Hopsack Shaper trousers and the 2.0 Pistcachio jackets. These are only a small sample of some of the pieces that H.E.S make, they’re a small UK brand with so many nice pieces with unique inspirations so have a look through their website!
Irregular Uniform
Each piece of clothing is made by one tailor from start to finish in their own workshop, ensuring high quality.
As you can see, they’re inspired by workwear and military wear but I think they’ve got some unique and fun takes on these styles.
I’ll be honest, I was expecting the pricing to be sky-high considering the craftsmanship that goes into the clothes. But they’re actually super reasonably priced. With jackets ranging from £150-300 and trousers at around £130. If you’re interested in buying then give them a DM on Instagram as they don’t have a website and get yourself a piece of clothing that you can really cherish due to the amount of time and care sewn into it.
Toast Arlo Jacket
Toast are always coming out with some great pieces, and these jackets are a great example of that. Nothing too crazy going on, just a a super nice work overshirt priced at £265 with some warm colourways and a slightly rugged look to them.
Reo Short- Whitehill Mercantile
Whitehill Mercantile featured yet again with their ‘Reo Short’ priced at £87 and made in Scotland. Pretty simple, but super nice and it’s always great to support a small personable brand like Whitehill.
Anglan- New Drop
These double pocket shorts are probably my favourite from the drop. They’re priced at roughly £75 though you’ll have to pay for shipping from Korea. There’s also a lot of other really nice stuff worth checking out so have a look through their new drop.
Hidden Season
Hidden season are a small brand that have got some pretty fun, often plaid based pieces. The pricing is pretty reasonable and they’re based in the US though do overseas shipping as well.
These plaid shorts are probably my favourite thing they do.
Jacob Rochester’s Art
Now you may have seen this already as a lot of big accounts were posting it as its part of Stone Island’s new campaign. I wanted to include it as I think its a genuinely lovely piece of artwork, and though it’s not unseen before with ALD doing similar sort of things with their marketing it still feels pretty fresh.
